Designing a Sweatshirt

I have been on the hunt for fashionable, yet decently priced, sweatshirts. For my kind of style, they're normally over priced. And let me tell you, window shopping does not help the situation! Searching through stores just made me want to buy everything in site, which does not help the 'decently priced' aspect of shopping. So, I took to creating my own! This is where trusty ol' Pinterest comes in! ;) There were so many cute ideas, I really couldn't decide which style I wanted to create first. After looking for what seemed like ages, I chose to create a diamond design with a galaxy theme. There's not much else to explain other than showing you, so on to the goods! You will need: A sweatshirt of your size (I purchased mine for $4.60 from Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon) Fabric paint of various shades of pink, blue, purple and white (If you are creating on any other color besides black, you will also need black) Fluffy paintbrush Plat...

Closet to Reading Nook Transformation

My dear ol' mother has a home studio for her photography business. It is pretty impressive how she created a business space from two separate rooms. In her waiting room, she wanted to add a space just for children without taking up too much room. She had a cluttered closet that was overflowing with things that had no place in the house. My mother came up with the idea of a reading nook after completely cleaning out the closet. Once it was bare, she was able to see the potential. Before the conversion of the closet, the only distraction she had for the children of her clients was a small basket filled with toys hidden underneath a chair. Needless to say, there was not much for children in the room. Unfortunately, we don't have any cluttered before pictures of the closet to show you, so you'll just have to take my word for it! It was M-E-S-S-Y! It was almost unusable as a closet, more like a hoarder's paradise! There were shelves attached to the walls that she removed...

A Mermaid's Dream Party

A few months ago, my little sister turned the big ol' seven. My mom, the one whom I got my crafting/baking/decorating/just about everything from, decided to create a wonderful party fit for a mermaid princess. Of course, my sister loved the idea, and my mom started the months of planning.  Little K's birthday party was in October, but my mom got started on it well before, closer to June or July. She wanted every little detail to be perfect, and let me tell you, it really was! I was there to aid in the party and ensure that everything went smoothly. All of the little mermaids had a blast, and it was so great seeing all of the fun that they were having.  When the mermaids arrived to the party, they were given adorable handmade outfits. Each outfit had a shirt with blue bows attached, and a mermaid tail made out of elastic fabric. The bottom of the tail was made from tulle, which added to the "mermaid-ness."

Batman Baby Shower Invite: Newspaper Style

I love hosting parties, and people love no having to! Just kidding! But I do love throwing parties. A friend and co-worker is currently pregnant and expecting soon. I wanted to throw a baby shower that she would enjoy. All of her friends know that she loves Batman, I mean, she does have a cat named Bruce!  Anyways, if finding shark themed invites was hard, finding a baby shower invite that was Batman themed was even harder. I don't know why I don't just start off with creating the invites myself! Silly, silly me! Oh well, I wanted to go for a more vintage theme, and what better than having it be similar to a newspaper. The Gotham Times to be exact. Now, this invite is already in the shop, so if you'd like to purchase the printable, you can!  Now, this time, I just changed everything and not just deleted things. I feel like you can see how it will look more if you can see a mock up of a real invitation. I folded the newspaper up in thirds and tied it up wi...

Shark Birthday Party Invite

Little A turned four this week! I cannot believe that my little baby is growing up so fast! Can we just tell our little ones to stay little forever? Well, I have told him, and asked if he could stay little forever, and he says yes every time! Could little ones get any cuter? Anyways, before I go on a rant about how I'm going to miss him being my little bitty baby, how about we get back to the topic!  This weekend, we are celebrating his birthday with a shark themed birthday party. We gave Little A a choice, did he want dinosaurs or sharks, and he chose sharks. He loves learning about both, but lately, sharks have seemed more interesting to him. I have planned a few games for the kids that I think they'll love, but in order for them to play these games, they need to be invited first! I sent out the invitations a while ago, but am just now getting to posting what they look like! Silly me.  It was a little hard to find shark themed anything around here. I even called a few...

DIY IKEA Children's Chairs

A few weeks ago I posted about an IKEA hack of my son's table and chairs set. Of course I didn't get around to posting the chairs part of that table and chairs hack.... ANYWAYS, I didn't like the look the original chairs, new or used. I had seen many different hacks on the chairs themselves, mostly consisting of adding fabric to the seat or painting them. They all looked great, but I love upholstered and cushion seat chairs. I couldn't find any when I looked of what I was going for, so I decided to try it out. The chairs themselves took longer that the table, only because it was trial and error based. I just wanted to be able to put the table and chairs anywhere in the house and have them fit in. I think I did a pretty good job at that, if I do say so myself. Just a forewarning, I apologize for the poor quality of pictures, I was trying to finish the chairs and it was night time before I was able to get to them.  Not too shabby for someone who has no prio...

IKEA Hack/LATT Table and Chairs Turned Storage Table

* This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links, I’ll receive compensation at no added cost to you.  UPDATE: Make sure you put some sort of soft close adapter or hinge that would allow for the table top to not fall too fast or fall at all! Little A had a mishap with the table top falling down and hit underneath his eye. My poor little fellow. So, please learn from my mistake! When Little A was about a year old, we purchased him an IKEA LATT table so that he would have his own table to read, draw and pretty much learn on. That thing has been through so many stages of his life. He has eaten on it, subsequently doused in water  painted on, colored on and just plain had fun on. Recently, it started to become very, for lack of a better word, sad . The particle board top was bubbling up and would not get clean, the legs, sides and chairs had paint and color marks, and the whole table had seen better days. Big A wa...
